UPDTE For those who are following along, our 311 traffic study request was closed. Baltimore DOT is claiming that this light is run by a timer, but for any cyclist who has tried to turn left here, you know that during off-peak hours, the light will not turn green for you if you are on a bike. Here’s our new service request number for the follow up : 12-00181700.

“The traffic division is going to look into “re setting” the sensor to detect bicycles at the left turn lane in the 100 block or W North Ave . The timeframe for a Traffic Study is 160 days (hopefully sooner I sent this service request number to them as a follow up to Mr. Scott response) for the service request number is 11-00819314.” – Baltimore city 311

We recognized that bicycles are sometimes not “detected” at some of the traffic signal locations. We can sometimes make improvements by spotting where the bicycle should stand for that purpose, repair or adjust the sensitivity of the traffic signal detectors. To determine what might be the fix at any particular location please create a traffic study request.”
