It was part of the normal morning routine for many, but an out-of-the-ordinary vision for many others who came to the County Courthouse plaza in Towson on Friday morning.

Dozens of bikers who work in downtown Towson congregated as a part of Bike to Work Day — an event that advocates said celebrates a healthier, less frustrating way to commute each morning…

At about 8 a.m., Friday Katie Gore sat in front of Joe’s Bike Shop at Mt. Washington chatting with two riders making their commute via bike.

Gore, an employee at the shop and Bike Maryland, said about six of 25 people who had registered for Bike to Work Day had passed by the shop, which was listed as a participating location. The Baltimore Metropolitan Council sponsored 18 separate Bike to Work events throughout the Baltimore area…
